Rwanda has expelled an aide to Belgium's military attache, the country's defence ministry said Tuesday amid bilateral tension over the situation in the troubled east of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

"The secretary of the Belgian embassy's military attache left the country on the request of the Rwandan authorities," said a spokesman for the ministry. He returned to Belgium on January 19 after a more than two-year stint in Rwanda.
Belgian weekly Le Vif/L'Express said he had been ordered to leave within 48 hours for "activities incompatible with his function" but a foreign ministry spokesman told the Belga news agency that "we do not know the exact reasons" for what he termed an "unfriendly" and "unjustified" measure.

Belgium, the former colonial power, suspended its military cooperation with Kigali in November after the UN criticised Rwanda for backing M23 army mutineers active in eastern DR Congo.

The Truth can be buried and stomped into the ground where none can see, yet eventually it will, like a seed, break through the surface once again far more potent than ever, and Nothing can stop it. Truth can be suppressed for a "time", yet It cannot be destroyed. ==> Wolverine
