Why did the United Nations choose men alleged to have supervised death squads to head peacekeeping forces in Darfur and Mali? The activities of Lieutenant General Patrick Nyamvumba and Major General Jean Bosco Kazura in eastern Rwanda shed light on what their victorious army did during the 1994 genocide and for years to come.

BRUSSELS - Joseph Matata, a
Rwandan farmer who became a human rights activist, was in Belgium in
April 1994 when the genocide began. But his children and ethnic Tutsi
wife were at home in Murambi, a village on Rwanda’s eastern border. At
dawn on April 12, a militia of Hutu extremists known as the Interahamwe
arrived at their house looking for blood. The attackers quickly forced
the family outdoors and sliced his wife’s back with a machete. They then
went after Matata’s 12-year-old daughter, cutting her neck and face.
The girl fell to the ground and lapsed into a coma. A Hutu neighbor
named John intervened as the militia started beating three other
children with clubs. When the attackers thought they’d killed two
Tutsis, they decided to move on.
With the help of a local gendarme who
knew the family, John managed to get Matata’s wife and daughter to the
nearest hospital, while his remaining children found refuge with another
neighbor who kept them safe by paying off marauding bands of killers.
A week later, the Rwandan Patriotic Army
(RPA)—a Tutsi rebel army that routed Hutu extremists and seized
power—swept into Murambi and brought Matata’s wife and daughter to a
more equipped hospital in neighboring Gahini, a village in the commune
of Rukara, on the shores of Lake Muhazi.
“For that, I have to thank the RPF,”
Matata said dryly at a restaurant in central Brussels, referring to the
Rwandan Patriotic Front, (RPF) the political wing of the RPA and current
ruling party of Rwanda.
When the RPF formed an emergency
coalition government in late July at the end of the genocide, flights
resumed to the country and Matata was finally able to get home. He
headed straight to Gahini to pick up his wife and daughter, who had
temporarily moved into a house near the hospital that had nursed them
back to health.
It was then that Matata heard a litany
of other horrors that had occurred in Gahini and in villages throughout
the prefectures of Kibungo and Byumba. Civilians began to tell him
stories about systematic killings of Hutus perpetrated by the RPA, the
victorious army that had supposedly halted the genocide.
“I was grateful to the RPF for helping
my family but I couldn’t ignore what I was hearing,” Matata said, unable
to finish the same glass of Leffe beer over our three-hour encounter. “As someone who believed in human rights I felt obliged to investigate the allegations.”
In the 1970s and early 1980s, Matata—a
voluble yet linguistically precise man—worked at the National Bank of
Rwanda in Kigali and became critical of the former Hutu regime and
one-party rule of President Juvenal Habyarimana. He later moved to
Murambi and opened an agricultural business. In November 1990, when the
RPA first invaded northern Rwanda from Uganda, he was accused of aiding
the RPF, a charge he denied, and was briefly thrown in jail. By 1991, he
became a founding member of ARDHO, the Rwandan Association
for the Defense of Human Rights, and would later head CLIIR, the
Brussels-based Centre to Fight Impunity and Injustice in Rwanda, where
he’s become a tireless chronicler of the complex, unrepentantly violent
history of Rwanda.
The 58-year-old Rwandan of mixed
ethnicity stages weekly protests outside the Rwandan embassy in Brussels
and issues missives condemning disappearances and arrests in his
homeland, incidents largely ignored by organizations such as Human
Rights Watch and Amnesty International. He has become, among Belgium’s
curious sanctum of Rwandan exiles, a lawful Zorro-like figure and a
one-man support network for Hutus and Tutsis behind bars or in flight.
Matata did not last long in Rwanda under
the Rwandan Patriotic Front, whose power was just beginning to flourish
amid the ruins of war in July 1994. Within days of his return from
Belgium to Rwanda, he interviewed dozens of villagers in Gahini and
other sectors, many who would later disappear. He also visited 10 mass
graves in the towns of Muhazi, Kayonza and Kabarondo. Some of the bodies
of Hutus in those graves were later burned or brought to mass graves
containing Tutsis killed by the Interahamwe before the RPA arrived.
A witness that assisted him with the
probe was one of Matata’s former employees on a farm he owned in
Murambi. This man, a Tutsi, had the ghastly job of transporting corpses
for the RPA in a fougonnette—a kind of African taxi minibus—to mass graves.
“This man worked for the RPA. He had to carry corpses in a vehicle the RPA had seized. The work was done quickly,” Matata said.
“He was traumatized. Sometimes the victims loaded into the taxi weren’t even dead. They would still be moaning and crying.”
The employee in question—whom Matata
described as a sensitive person—eventually had problems with the RPF and
was forced to flee the country.
In Matata’s initial investigation,
witnesses described how the RPA combed the hillside. “The RPA hunted
people down like they would rabbit or other prey. The soldiers did
clean-up operations in the hills. They went from house to house, shooting people.” Sometimes they used grenades, he said.
Some people hid in banana groves or escaped to the adjacent forest, the Akagera National Park.
“Quite a few victims would see the soldiers coming and throw themselves into the lake and drown.”
The RPA also used another method—one of entrapment—to kill larger groups of people.
“They asked people to gather in certain
areas, in schools and markets. Those who showed up at these meetings
were given cooking equipment, clothes
and food. These people were told to spread the word about other
meetings. When larger groups of people showed up the RPA used grenades
or guns to kill them.”
Matata contends the RPA called Hutus to
meetings and slaughtered them in other areas of the country as well.
“The massacres were intensive and massive.”
Matata was unable to complete a full
investigation in Kibungo—with names and numbers of victims—because his
life was threatened on several occasions. Within weeks he returned to
Kigali and was forced in early 1995 to leave Rwanda for good.
Nevertheless, his truncated work was eventually bolstered by the
findings of a man named Robert Gersony.
Gersony, a consultant with extensive
experience in African war zones, was hired by the United Nations to
conduct a survey on the feasibility of Rwandan refugees returning to
their homes after the genocide. Like many who descended on Rwanda in the
aftermath of genocide, Gersony and his team were initially sympathetic
to the RPF, and were granted access to 91 sites in more than 40 communes
around the country. They conducted interviews with 200 individuals and
held another 100 small group discussions. /End

In the census of 1991, there were three ethnic groups in Rwanda, recorded proportionally as in the following statistical figures: HUTU (85%); TUTSI (14%); and TWA (1%). These numbers might have significantly changed since for different reasons, the main one being war.

According to today’s upheld propaganda, prevalent especially since 1994 and which is found in many circles dominated by TUTSI extremists across the world, HUTU are genocidaires.
That propaganda preaches that HUTU are genetically born with the intend to kill TUTSI.
This is true at least according to what the Rwandan president Paul Kagame highlighted on June 30, 2013 in a public speech in Kigali.
At the time, he asked all HUTU including those born after 1994, the year of the so called “genocide” (1), to apologize to TUTSI for a crime their fathers might have committed.
And we know where that propaganda originated from. It was initially engineered in the 1950s by the ruling TUTSI elite in Rwanda. This was the time of the monarchy in that country.
The former had well observed how effectively the then entire “civilized” world had come to the rescue of the Jews during Adolf Hitler military campaigns across Europe of WWII.
At the end of the 1950s and early 1960s, the Rwandan ruling TUTSI elite found that by using the genocide card to attract international sympathy for its minority leading community, its royal and political privileges could be safeguarded.
It was under the strength of this logic that for example Dominique Mbonyumutwa, a HUTU leading political figure at that time and which was going to become the first president of Rwanda, was accused of fomenting a genocide against their community. Unfortunately for the latter, the accusation did not work out.
Approximately thirty years later, in 1994, having refined all the required propaganda, – particularly during their exile in Uganda -, understandably with the help of all foreign vested interests which found appropriate to be associated to the new propagandists of genocide, the accusation succeeded.
Today, it is widely accepted by many uninformed people outside Rwanda that HUTU are genocidaires. This might not be their fault because broad interested parties have heavily invested in that propaganda of tarnishing the image of HUTU for strategic reasons.
Why palestinization?
When the Jewish writer Bat Ye’or talks of palestinization, he appears to mean siding or empathizing with Palestinians. However, my reference here to the concept is related to the victimization of the group, i.e in other words, for example in the case of HUTU, treating them the way Palestinians have been treated since the creation of Israel: as pariahs.
In the mind of many around the world who are fed by and consume happily Western propaganda supportive of Israel, Palestinians are terrorists.
When Palestinians defend their right to live decently as other citizens anywhere, not being evicted from their ancestral land, or not treated as second class category people in territories today occupied by the Jewish state, they are called names.
Its negative portrayal by the West and concurrently the ruling TUTSI in Rwanda serve strategic interests of particularly US, UK and other foreign powers. That is the same treatment that Palestinians are subjected to for the same reasons of political strategy in the Middle East.
Presently
On 05/12/14 Germany prosecuted a number of members said to be part of the FDLR. This is the HUTU movement which today represents those among the community that have resorted to protecting their people at any cost even by giving up their lives.
The victims of the German court still have the right to appeal. “The verdict and the sentences are not yet final. The German Supreme Court could revise them.”
The group has been mostly active in the Eastern part of the Democratic Republic of Congo where more than 250,000 HUTU refugees have been identified.
These are some of the survivors of the many attacks by the Rwandan Patriotic Front [RPF] and foreign forces combined with the complicity of international organisations such as UN and NGOs that targeted them since October 1st, 1990, either inside Rwanda or DRC.
Could there be any correlation between the timing of publicizing the German court’s sentencing and the 02/01/15 deadline for the FDLR having disarmed completely? Maybe or maybe not.
Whatever the timing of this court’s decision, putting it in front of the public’s eyes at this particular period, helps a lot those who, either inside UN institutions, or in Western capitals, and even in Kigali, have tirelessly worked for total annihilation of the FDLR.
Across Europe and the entire world, there are numerous people of HUTU origin who are either in prison or being investigated, not for the crimes they might have committed especially in Rwanda during the “genocide”, but only for the fact of being who they are. RPF propaganda has worked so far in this respect.
On 27/11/14 in The Netherlands, the Hutu community organized a public manifestation to protest against the injustices that the country’s authorities are committing harassing outrageously its members.
They have been removing citizenship to those who had it, imprisoning those who speak out for others, etc.
The country is responding to Rwandan government’s requests based on fabricated facts against the victims.
The Western policy of recent years of reducing sensibly the number of foreigners in their midsts, particularly those from countries where there are minimal excuses to do so – thanks to propaganda from places like Rwanda, and because of the increasing nationalistic trends developing especially in Europe, will simply be more tightened.
Available options
The HUTU community everywhere, inside Rwanda and outside, has two options: either they stand up as a people, or they perish completely as one. The latter process of reducing their number started in 1990.
FDLR has made a stand so far which has preserved the lives of many particularly in the DRC.
While officially the pariah is the HUTU, at the same time, the Bantu community by large, particularly in the entire Great Lakes region, is being exterminated in the process.
Congolese have lost more than six millions. Africans are being massacred by the millions to give space to exploitation of their minerals.
What about the TUTSI in the region and particularly in Rwanda who might wrongly think that they are not at the mercy of that game of sacrificing African people for safeguarding foreign interests?
There is undoubtedly an elite group among TUTSI which is leading [reference to the speech of Joweri Museveni during the 20th commemoration of “genocide” on April 7th, 2014] and ready to sacrifice anybody, even among their own people, in order to preserve their immediate interests and those of their Western masters.
One can argue that the Palestinian case is different from the Hutu one. I agree at some extent. But the similarities are so striking that one can hardly avoid thinking of their closeness; 1) foreign forces that impose a minority community to rule over a majority people; 2) sustaining the power of the minority by strong military and financial foreign intervention; 3) use of extreme state terrorism to oppress masses; 4) the ruling elite being celebrated in its masters’ capitals and universities as role models of governance, democracy and development.
In my overall opinion, the palestinization of the HUTU community started the day US and UK decided to back up RPF and its regional platform of support, meaning Uganda mainly, to become its backbone for their stronghold in the Great Lakes region. Conscious of that reality, and especially what they can learn from the conditions of Palestinians, HUTU survival as a people will depend on how they address their current situation of “pariahs”. Better late than never, as seen in The Netherlands on Thursday 27/11/14.
(1) The Rwandan tragedy and its Congolese aftermath have affected enormously every family including mine in all the countries of the region. On the journey of trying to survive the slaughter, we lost countless parents, siblings, in-laws, nephews, and friends. Some survivors have been left handicapped by machetes or bullets for life or simply mentally. Other relatives died some years after because of the consequences and policies put in place by RPF, this in Rwanda. Those who did not die in prisons, have become citizens of second category. Prisons are continuously receiving hundreds of candidates months after months as countries like The Netherlands, UK, US, etc do not stop financing the oppressive regime of Paul Kagame.

By now, all Rwandans know that the Juvenal Habyarimana assassination dossier is considered as a toxic dossier. It’s a toxic dossier to the extent that criminal Paul Kagame will at most; assassinate anyone who comes out to implicate him in the assassination of Juvenal Habyarimana. Most of the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPA) operatives who took part in the operation to shoot down the plane carrying Juvenal Habyarimana are now dead through well planned systematic assassinations.

A long the way Paul Kagame has assassinated all those officers that have sufficient and efficient information in the shooting down of the Habyarimana’s plane; starting with the assassination of Colonel Lizinde Theoneste, Captain Herbert Kamugisha who was the head of RPA’s intelligence group at CND, Col Steven Ndugute, Col Patrick Karegeya, Col. Charles Ngoga, Abdul Joshua Ruzibiza etc. Anyone who tried to deviate from Kagame’s line of narrative which is full of fabricated lies; the criminal makes sure you don’t exist in this world and this is the same fate that has met the recent witness.
Flash Back
I would like to admit to Ikaze Iwacu readers that I am not a keen user of Facebook and when I use it, it’s only to communicate with friends, relatives, former school/university friends. After receiving reliable information from a DMI cyber operative, confirming to Ikaze Iwacu thatEmile Gafirita was using the Facebook nickname of Ruvunamacumu Ashire, and this facebook page was the first insight that brought Emile Gafirita to the attention of DMI operatives and most especially Paul Kagame. But In trying to analyse the Emile Gafirita issue, the research took me to unfamiliar territory, a place that left me shocked but at the same time impressed at how Rwandans are battling Kagame’s ideologues in the social media, especially on Facebook.
The research helped me to realise why criminal Paul Kagame through death merchant Jack Nziza created a social media team that is now based in Kagugu-Kigali. The most fascinating analysis is how Kagame’s cyber team lacks intellectual facts, logic and analysis. In other words, they are a group of paid mercenaries with nothing to say or defend; but I can impartially admit that, they possess excellent dialect in the field of insults, abuses and they all sing the same lyrics like parrots.
How Ruvunamacumu Ashire was tracked to Uganda in 2013
According to our reliable DMI operative, the blogger by the name of Ruvunamacumu Ashirewas a headache to criminal Paul Kagame. Rwandans should know that criminal Paul Kagame is hooked and addicted to social media; he has created Facebook accounts with pseudo names to see, read and react to comments that opposition members are writing and posted about him. Paul Kagame put immense pressure to his operatives to find the real person behind Ruvunamacumu Ashire, as he was disturbed with Ashire’s feeds especially detailing Paul Kagame’s killings and cowardice especially during the RPA/RPF war. According to this reliable DMI cyber operative, they uncovered the IP internet addresses that were used to run Ruvunamacumu Ashire, and all came from Uganda. This is when the DMI cyber team briefed and transferred the Ruvanamacumu Ashire dossier to DMI chief, death merchant Jack Nziza.
Paul Kagame’s assassins led by Lt. Col. Burabyo James tries to kidnap Emile Gafirita from Uganda in 2013
After identifying that the runner of the Ruvunamacumu Ashire lives in Uganda, death merchant Jack Nziza passed the dossier of tracking the blogger Ruvunamacumu Ashire to his trusted assassin Lt. Col. Burabyo James. Rwandans should know that Lt. Col. Burabyo James is Rwanda’s military attaché to Uganda. Lt. Col. Burabyo, who is half Rwandan, as his father is Ugandan, is one of the top assassins within RPF’s terrorist organisation.
After receiving the dossier from death merchant Jack Nziza, Lt. Col. Burabyo approached Ugandan’s CMI operatives who are under Kigali’s pay role for the help. These CMI operatives contacted their colleagues who work within internet providers like Tigo Uganda and MTN Uganda, to try and retrieve any information on the IP addresses that have ever been used by Ruvunamacumu Ashire. Ikaze Iwacu readers should know that CMI means chieftaincy of military intelligence which is equivalent to Rwanda’s deadly DMI. These paid CMI operatives turned up with a name of an e-mail address that has constantly appeared in all these different IP addresses.
It is this e-mail address that led Lt. Col. Burabyo James directly to Emile Gafirita; this is when DMI operatives started trailing him. While in Uganda, Emile Gafirita was always involved in small businesses and not doing anything out of the odds. He never at any day commented, debated or discussed about the Rwandan politics. The mare fact of being a suspect made Kagame’s assassins to try to kidnap him.
A very reliable DMI personnel who is conversant with this dossier told Ikaze Iwacu that on the 31st -08-2013, while at Najjanakumbi pub, a group that involved John Ngarambe and Corporal Rene Rutagungira tried to kidnap Emile Gafirita. By this time, Emile did not know that he was under the surveillance of Rwanda’s DMI. Emile Gafirita who was in company of Ugandan friends fought off Kagame’s assassins to the point that Rene Rutagungira sustained an eye injury, as these assassins fled the scene. Rwandan’s should be reminded that Rene Rutagungira is a DMI operative who operates in Uganda and he was also involved in the assassination of Charles Ingabire the former editor of Inyenyeri news.
The relocation of Emile Gafirita to Nairobi, Kenya
After the Najjanakumbi Pub incident, friends advised Emile Gafirita to relocate to another country and lay low. This is when he decided to relocate to Nairobi Kenya. Our reliable DMI informer told Ikaze Iwacu that after the Najjanakumbi incident, the blogger Ruvunamacumu Ashire also stopped posting on his facebook account, and this made death merchant Jack Nziza and his criminal boss Paul Kagame to categorically confirm that Ruvunamacumu Ashire was Emile Gafirita. To these criminals, it was not coincidence but an affirmation that Emile Gafirita was linked to Ruvunamacumu Ashire.
According to this DMI operative, it was after the death of Col Patrick Karegeya, that Ruvunamacumu Ashire started again to post feeds on facebook. But, this time with vengeance and more revealing information that attacked and touched the RPF’s terrorist organisation and its criminal leader Paul Kagame. By this time, Ruvunamacumu Ashire’s facebook account was operating from three different IP addresses spanning in three different countries of America, Belgium and Kenya.
At the beginning of this year, Paul Kagame’s DMI operatives were busy and involved with other immediate issues in Burundi, DR Congo, Tanzania, South Africa, Europe, America and Rwandans inside the country were also starting to voice their opinions. Therefore, the issue of Ruvunamacumu Ashire was shelved by DMI as he was not an immediate concern for the system; but his dossier was transferred to Peter Matsiko in Nairobi; for locating his where about.
Who leaked Emile Gafirita’s name, to Rwanda’s murderous regime?
At the beginning of August 2014, Marc Trévidic and Nathalie Poux came out to announce in public that they will be re-opening the Habyarimana plane crash investigation, as there is new and important information from a very reliable individual. Criminal Paul Kagame was briefed about the development, and that is when he ordered Jack Nziza to kidnap Emile Gafirita for enhanced interrogation, and learn on what he has already talked to the French Judiciary, who may have encouraged him to come out after all these years and if he had contacts withAbdul Joshua Ruzibiza before his death.

By this time, death merchant Jack Nziza briefed Captain Peter Matsiko who is Rwanda’s embassy first secretary in Kenya and a very seasoned DMI operative. He was briefed about the impending situation and the Captain assured Jack Nziza that he knows the real address of Emile Gafirita, the address which he had attained in previous investigations on him in relation to his blogging work. Ikaze Iwacu readers should know that Captain Peter Matsiko is a seasoned and a notorious DMI operative. Our informer also told Ikaze Iwacu that, “Like his boss Jack Nziza, Peter Matsiko is also 100% Umufumbira from Kisoro in Uganda.” A three car convoy led by Col Franco Rutagengwa left Kigali on the 12th-11-2014 bound for Kenya, making a stopover in Kampala to pick Lt. Col Burabyo James and Corporal Rene Rutagungira. This squad of criminal Paul Kagame’s killers arrived in Nairobi on the 14th-11-2014. They were housed in a leafy mansion situated in Embakasi suburb of Nairobi and owned by a Somalian businessman.
Our reliable DMI informer told Ikaze Iwacu that this Somali businessman is named/calledDaahir Abdullahi who is Kenyan by birth. But Rwanda’s DMI operatives nicknamed him Farrah Aidid; this man knows all the DMI killings in Nairobi. He is the point of contacts for DMI operatives in Nairobi, as he provides them with transport, weapons and he is the one who corrupts Kenyan officials on behalf of Rwanda/DMI. This mansion house at Embakasi, was then used as operation centre by these DMI agents led Col Franco Rutagengwa.
Mr Emile Gafirita was kidnapped on his way home after meeting a supposed Burundian “friend,” but at this time, this friend had also been bought by Captain Peter Matsiko to lure him in an area that will be easy for his kidnapping. The Rwandan DMI avoided causing mayhem in the streets of Nairobi; they let a group assembled by this Somalian Businessman to kidnap him and then handed to Franco Rutagengwa’s group; that is what really happened on this fateful day of 19th/11/2014.
According to this reliable DMI operative, Emile Gafirita was held at this mansion owned by the Somalian businessman; as this businessman was planning through corrupting Kenyan officials on how Emile Gafirita can be sneaked out of the country. On the 22nd-11-2014 that is when Col Franco Rutagengwa and his group left Nairobi; and on the 23rd-11-2014 Emile Gafirita was delivered to criminal Paul Kagame.
Our reliable DMI informant told Ikaze Iwacu that Emile Gafirita is currently being held at Gako military detention centre, where he is going through vigorous torture and questioning. This officer told Ikaze Iwacu that “Emile Gafirita will meet the same fate like Aime Ntabana. He will be tortured for information and after seeing that he has nothing to tell, he will then be disposed/killed.”

A note of warning
I would like to warn Major Micombero Jean Marie to be careful as criminal Kagame’s DMIs are encircling on him. As a person who has information on the shooting down of Habyarima’s plane, you’re a target in front of RPF’s criminal’s enterprise. Being also death merchant Jack Nziza’s number one enemy, this puts your name on the top of people to be eliminated.
