  1. The people should overthrow the Rwandan dictator (often put in place by foreign agencies) and throw him, along with his henchmen and family, out of the country – e.g., the Shah of Iran, Marcos of Philippines.Compaore of Burkina Faso

  2. Rwandans organize a violent revolution and have the dictator killed – e.g., Ceaucescu in Romania.

  3. Foreign powers (till then maintaining the dictator) force the dictator to exile without armed intervention – e.g. Mátyás Rákosi of Hungary was exiled by the Soviets to Kirgizia in 1970 to “seek medical attention”.

  4. Foreign powers march in and remove the dictator (whom they either instated or helped earlier) – e.g. Saddam Hussein of Iraq or Manuel Noriega of Panama.

  5. The dictator kills himself in an act of desperation – e.g., Hitler in 1945.

  6. The dictator is assassinated by people near him – e.g., Julius Caesar of Rome in 44 AD was stabbed by 60-70 people (only one wound was fatal though).

  7. Organise strikes and unrest to paralyze the country and convince even the army not to support the dictaor – e.g., Jorge Ubico y Castañeda was ousted in Guatemala in 1944 and Guatemala became democratic, Recedntly in Burkina Faso with the dictator Blaise Compaoré.

Huge Chinese investment in African companies and infrastructure is helping Africa develop, Mr Kagame who is back in the country from a tour of the US and Europe, told a German newspaper.

Meanwhile, back home, on Friday amidst hundreds of government officials and diplomats, the President bitterly slammed the Mo Ibrahim Foundation 5m dollar award for African leaders who leave power gracefully.

The Truth about the Rwandan genocide

Ugandan police is reported to have arrested a Rwandan suspected of involvement in the 1994 genocide.




Idelphonse Nizeyimana was arrested on Monday Oct. 5 but details of his arrest were first made public on Oct. 6.



 The police spokeswoman Judith Nabakoba said Nizeyimana secretly entered Uganda through the Bunagana area of the Uganda-Congo border using forged travel documents.

He has now been flown to the northern Tanzanian town of Arusha for trial at UN's International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda.

"The former intelligence chief, Nizeyimana is alleged to have participated in the Rwandan genocide in 1994 which left about 800,000 ethnic Tutsis and moderate Hutus dead in 100 days," the Daily Monitor reported on Wednesday Oct. 7

An arrest warrant for Nizeyimana was issued by the Arusha tribunal on Nov. 27, 2000.


He becomes the latest of several high profile Hutus arrested since 1994 in different parts of the world and who have been jailed or brought to trial.

The question of responsibility for the 1994 Rwandan genocide remains a sore spot on the world's conscience and is an extremely sensitive topic in Rwanda 15 years later.

Whose side of the story are we to believe? Most world opinion blames the genocide squarely on the Hutu.

According to Nick Gordon, a British reporter in UDC Newsletter, in April 1996, "the Tutsi dominated regime in Rwanda, which took power in 1994, use petroleum-fuelled crematoriums at several locations. Their victims are Hutu, men, women and children regardless of age. In the same year, UDC Newsletter underscored these crimes to no avail.

Recognizing that serious violations of humanitarian law were committed in Rwanda, and acting under Chapter VII of the United Nations Charter, the Security Council created the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) by resolution 955 of 8 November 1994.

The purpose of this measure is to contribute to the process of national reconciliation in Rwanda and to the maintenance of peace in the region. The International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda was established for the prosecution of persons responsible for genocide and other serious violations of international humanitarian law committed in the territory of Rwanda between 1 January 1994 and 31 December 1994. It may also deal with the prosecution of Rwandan citizens responsible for genocide and other such violations of international law committed in the territory of neighbouring States during the same period.

Justice: New out strategy for the ICTR

Kigali — In an unprecedented move, the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR) has proposed to have the East African Community (EAC) treaty amended to enable the East African Court of Justice (EACJ) handle the tribunal's remaining trial cases.


The proposal was made on Monday by the ICTR Chief Prosecutor at the ongoing EAC Peace and Security conference in Munyonyo, Kampala.

In a statement read for him by Paul Ngarua, an ICTR Prosecution counsel, Hassan Jallow also requested that the regional bloc be empowered to take up the UN detention facility in Arusha.

"The East African Court of Justice needs your initiative to empower it to handle the cases, structures and archives of the ICTR after the tribunal closes," Jallow told the delegates.

On October 2nd, 2009, over 900 delegates from every district in Rwanda came to Kigali for a conference of the new Rwandan Democratic Green Party, formed on August 14, 2009. Kigali -  It's hardly surprising that, on October 2nd, 2009, 900 delegates to the new Rwandan Democratic Green Party weren't allowed to meet in Kigali, Rwanda. The Kagame government, which former President Bill Clinton, Reverend Rick Warren, and the Obama/Clinton State Department all point to as the triumph and future of Africa, shut them down, again, for the fourth time.



How much longer will so much of the world accept the U.S. State Department's official lies about the Rwandan police state, U.S. puppet Rwandan President Paul Kagame, and the Rwandan Defense Force, the U.S.A.'s African proxy army in D.R. Congo, Sudan, and elsewhere in Africa, as needed?
During the previous week, on September 29, 2009, former President Bill Clinton presented Rwandan President Paul Kagame with a Global Citizenship Award. On Friday, Reverend Rick Warren hung his International Medal of Peace around Kagame's neck at a "Saddleback Civil Forum on Peace and Reconciliation," at Warren's evangelical Saddleback Church in Orange County, California. Kigali - Rwanda has a deficit of thousands of teachers to cater for the growing number of students at all levels of education but cannot recruit a mass of them because of International Monetary Fund - IMF restrictions, RNA reports.

As Rwanda celebrates World Teachers Day October 05, the country has about 50,000 teachers with about 2.2million students in primary and 250,000 at the secondary school level.

Prof. Yash Pal Ghai: What they don’t tell you about Rwanda

Rwanda enjoys a positive reputation internationally and its President Paul Kagame is regularly praised by the World Bank, the US, and UK administrations for his integrity, efforts at reconciliation, and economic policies.

I was impressed by his advice to Kenyans at the national prayer breakfast last May to follow his government’s example of commitment to ethnic diversity, consensus building on the common good, national values, and inclusion of all political views in national life and development agenda.

When I visited Rwanda at the request of the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative to do a report on the state of human rights and democracy in Rwanda (in connection with Rwanda’s application to join the Commonwealth) my first impressions, despite some critical reports I had read, were favourable: Very efficient and courteous processing of incoming passengers, a safe, clean and well organised Kigali, and bright and suave officials.

Profile

I am Jean-Christophe Nizeyimana, an Economist, Content Manager, and EDI Expert, driven by a passion for human rights activism. With a deep commitment to advancing human rights in Africa, particularly in the Great Lakes region, I established this blog following firsthand experiences with human rights violations in Rwanda and in the DRC (formerly Zaïre) as well. My journey began with collaborations with Amnesty International in Utrecht, the Netherlands, and with human rights organizations including Human Rights Watch and a conference in Helsinki, Finland, where I was a panelist with other activists from various countries. My mission is to uncover the untold truth about the ongoing genocide in Rwanda and the DRC. As a dedicated voice for the voiceless, I strive to raise awareness about the tragic consequences of these events and work tirelessly to bring an end to the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF)'s impunity. This blog is a platform for Truth and Justice, not a space for hate. I am vigilant against hate speech or ignorant comments, moderating all discussions to ensure a respectful and informed dialogue at African Survivors International Blog.
